A somewhat new release in the SE370 series from Samsung, this is a 27-inch monitor that pairs both size and image quality together. They’re the first kind of monitor from Samsung that offers wireless charging support (for your mobile devices), through the use of Qi wireless charging. Samsung pulled it off very nicely with this product, as numerous models from their smartphone line (like the Samsung Galaxy S6 or the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge) support it; whereas the iPhone doesn’t. This monitor was meant to be used for longer periods of time, as they have an “Eye Saver” mode implemented within the design. This allows for a longer gaming experience, without straining your eyes.
The panel used here is essentially an IPS, but it’s called “PLS” (which stands for ‘Plane-to-Line Switching’) in the Samsung monitors. These panels offer a superior color display when compared to the other varieties, and is awesome if you wanted the best viewing angles possible. With deep and rich black, as well as the clearest image you can find in a gaming monitor, I was sold on this monitor almost immediately. Like any other Samsung S27E370DS review, let’s take a quick look at the specifications:
- Screen Size: 27”
- Panel Type: PLS (IPS)
- Aspect Ratio: 16:9
- Refresh Rate: 60Hz
- Response Time: 4ms
- Speakers: No
- Adaptive Sync: FreeSync
- Resolution: 1920 x 1080
We’re going to look at the connectivity, image quality and my overall thoughts on the monitor today. Hopefully, by the time you’re done reading this, you’ll have a much better sense as to what this monitor has to offer.
The image quality was something that I loved from the beginning because I need the best image I can possibly have. Video games call for a sharp eye, and a quick reaction time – when the image is blurred and lagging behind the actual gameplay, it just isn’t going to be a pleasurable experience. The response time for this monitor is 4ms, which is stellar by any means. When I used the monitor for the first time, I was blown away; there was no ghosting of any sort, and I was playing for hours at a time. Not only that, but the image quality was still great with the Eye Save mode activated. Binge gaming usually results in your eyes drying up and feeling a little wonky, but that wasn’t an issue in my personal experience.
With Full HD implementation through a 16:9 aspect ratio, you experience a rich and enticing experience. Whether you’re playing a video game or just watching your favorite movie, this monitor won’t let you down, as it didn’t do that to me!
This monitor features an HDMI and D-Sub connector, as well as DisplayPort permissions. HDMI is a very common connector type and can be used for both PC gaming and other entertainment uses. D-Sub is a traditional computer connector, and DisplayPort is an exclusive technology of sorts. It can also charge mobile devices wirelessly, which is changing the way people look at purchasing smartphones. It doesn’t apply to every single phone on the market, and only works with specific Samsung models – I thought that was really smart on their part (and I use a Samsung, so I was able to make use of the wireless charging feature!). It works great and is very convenient around the house.
There are plenty of features loaded into this monitor, Samsung really wasn’t messing around when they initially released this bad boy. There’s Full HD 1080p resolution offered, which creates the sharpest images you could imagine. The viewing angles are optimal in any case, as there’s a total of 178 degrees in viewing positions (that will still offer “perfection”) to choose from. When you pair that alongside the 4ms response time, the fastest and most action packed scenes you come across will look amazing – no blurring or ghosting whatsoever! The best features, from what I could tell, were things like the wireless charging and Full HD. Let’s list a few, shall we?
- Wireless Mobile Device Charging
- AMD FreeSync
- Plethora of Different Viewing Angles
- Modern & Creative Design
- Eye Saver Mode
- Eco-Friendly Materials
The design of the monitor drew my attention, and that’s the main reason why I purchased it. I liked the white and light blue sort of look, it created a contrast that worked well with my computer space. It’s a modern look that keeps me happy when I step into the room.
It takes a lot to make me want a monitor, I would say I’m picky in that sense. This Samsung S27E370DS review was meant to have a personal touch, so hopefully, I didn’t come off as being biased by any means. I like Samsung, obviously – I have their brand in the form of both a phone and a monitor. I play a lot of computer games online, and my friends have been constantly talking about getting new monitors; it only felt right to make this purchase. I’d give it a 9.3 out of 10 if I had to!
monitors I’ve come across at this price range. GNot definitely not bad, but obviously not the best I’ve ever used as it’s not a perfect 10. In fact, I haven’t given any monitors a 10/10 rating yet so that should say something. The Samsung S27E370DS display is perfect for individuals who want an optimal monitor for entertainment purposes. Honestly, it’s actually one of the best gaming monitors I’ve come across at this price range. It’s a great value for money monitor overall.
