Here’s a mystery, though. It’s quite odd that the 23-inch gaming monitor Dell S2340L has become scarce and can no longer be bought online directly from the Dell site. Even when availability becomes an issue, it has remained one of the most efficient and high-performing monitors you can try, especially if you are a newbie gamer. Without any exaggeration, this monitor can truly take you to the game itself. Once you have turned it on, you instantly become part of the action thanks to the full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 that offers rich visuals and images.
While the 23 inches screen size may appear insufficient to the advanced gamers, the ultra-thin bezel and the borderless design certainly make up for it. The borderless viewing is a major plus for both gamers and other professionals. The contemporary styling of the display, the ultra-wide viewing, and the image-enhancing technology have made it a promising, if not the most affordable gaming monitor yet.in-plane switching technology-equipped display. Its resolution is capable of delivering vibrant definition and HD-quality pictures. The display is equipped with an Image Enhance Technology that provides a crisp, vivid, and sharp images. As previously mentioned, the quality and richness of graphics are suitable for more than just a regular office or home setting. The richness of color during playback is also worth emphasizing in this Dell S2340L review. With the 16:9 aspect ratio, this monitor can be used for fast-paced games. It would be a pity to simply use a monitor like this for general or basic computing needs.
The 178-degree viewing angle makes it easy for any user or gamer to enjoy the same quality of graphics and images while viewing them from different angles. Texts remain readable and the details remain the same. The contrast and the brightness are clearly even when viewed from any angle. Undeniably, this is one of the best things about Dell S2340L. You can also set the viewing angle and tilt the monitor to suit your preferred viewing style. It can be tilted by up to 4 degrees forward, and you can tilt it backward by up to 21 degrees in angle.
For gamers, razor-sharp images and details are two very important components when it comes to maximizing enjoyable gaming experience. The Image Enhance Technology that has been integrated with this monitor is certainly worth every dollar you spend on it. The 82% color gamut and the dynamic contrast of 8M:1 makes the Dell S2340L the real deal among gaming monitor available to date. Another aspect that I especially appreciate about this monitor is that I get to enjoy the flexibility to customize colors the way I want it with the help of the Dell Display Manager. It gives me quick access to the Auto Mode software, which helps me become more productive.
Another important facet of the features that should be highlighted is the fact that this monitor lets you enjoy every game while being environmentally responsible at the same time. The panel is made with materials that are 100% arsenic and mercury-free. You can also switch to the PowerNap mode in order to dim the monitor when not in use. Thus, you can reduce your energy consumption. Note that this model is both registered under EPEAT Silver and is rated with ENERGY STAR. When I first purchased the unit, I was pleased as it came with the Advanced Exchange Service and the Limited Hardware Warranty. These warranties offer support for a certain period of time.
Setting it up proved to be easy. The first thing you would notice is how lightweight the Dell S2340L is. It is barely 4 kilograms in weight. Installing this monitor was a breeze as the base can basically just be screwed directly into the vertical stand. There is no need for any additional screw as you simply have to slide the monitor on top of the stand. The cables for the signal and power can then be attached. After setting it up, the entire monitor feels robust. Although the stand cannot be rotated or cannot be adjusted height-wise, you can tilt it up to a certain degree.
After setting it up, I’ve checked the quality of the screen in darker environments. As expected, the screen appeared to be brilliant with its high resolution. When the lights were turned on, the screen continued to display a good level of quality and detail. The downside, on the other hand, is that the glossiness produced more glare and made it even more susceptible to reflection. It does make it a bit tough to use the screen in extremely bright rooms or space.
At the back of the monitor, you can instantly spot HDMI in, Audio Out, Power in, and the VGA in ports. This is probably one of the weak points of this monitor as it only has a couple of options for connectivity – HDMI and VGA. If you intend to use it with a DisplayPort, then you will have to purchase a separate adapter. On a more positive note, the HDMI port enables users to explore a wide range of options when it comes to HD entertainment.
Based on the tests and initial use of the Dell S2340L, it is safe to say that this Dell S2340L is one monitor that you can purchase right away if you wish to enjoy the benefits of a top-notch gaming monitor without burning a hole in your pocket. To resolve the issue of glossiness, you just need to do one of the two things – you can simply double check the lighting of the room or try to avoid using it close to a window. These should give you a quick fix.
