What do users like about this product?
- Black eQualizer Technology
- VESA Compatible
- Game Modes
- HDMI Output
- Smart Scaling
The black eQualizer technology ensures that you will be able to effortlessly and clearly see your enemies even in the darkest areas. The objects in the dark backgrounds will be brightened so that you may see them more clearly, however, the picture quality will not suffer from it but remain uncompensated.
This 60Hz gaming monitor is VESA mount compatible meaning that you can easily and securely place it on the wall. Moreover, it has only 22mm wide bezel at the sides which makes it ideal for multi-display if you decide to put two or more of these monitors next to each other.
The BenQ RL2460HT offers a wide range of gaming-related ergonomics. It can be tilted by 20 degrees, pivoted into the portrait position, swiveled by 45 degrees to the left or right and height adjusted by 110mm. There is a precision scale placed on the base of the monitor which lets you keep track of your settings and allows you to adjust the height by using just one finger.
The exclusive features of the BenQ RL2460HT include various presets through which you can easily navigate using the user-friendly OSD menu. Besides the regular presets of Standard, Movie, Photo, sRGB and ECO Picture modes you also have access to a few gaming specific modes. These modes include two RTS modes, one FPS and one Fighting Mode. Additionally, you may create three custom Gamer modes and save or edit them whenever you want.
The BenQ teamed up with a popular StarCraft II team to create the best RTS gaming mode in which all the vital content is more tactically displayed which allows you to command your units more efficiently. The Fighting Mode offers a unique feature in which you can highlight characters with specific colors for easier recognition and control.
Additionally, there are various specific presets available for download. These exclusive gaming presets are calibrated by the popular and skilled professional players so that you may use them and improve your gaming by using the identical display as they do.
Those who like to stream their gaming can now do so without any input lag whatsoever. The HDMI-Out port of the BenQ RL2460HT allows you to connect a recording device which will stream your gameplay after it’s displayed on your own screen rather than after or during it. This eliminates lag and delay for both you and your audience.
You can use the Display Mode to quickly and efficiently navigate between numerous already optimized screen resolutions and aspect ratios depending on the desired gaming experience. The Smart Scale feature allows you to manually adjust any custom size setting to your liking. There are some things that people don’t like about this particular console gaming monitor and we’ll now dig deeper into these things in our BenQ RL2460HT review.
What do users not like about this product?
- Low speaker quality
- No USB Ports
- Only 60Hz
- Needed adjustments out of the box
- TN Panel
The sound coming from the monitor’s speakers is very weak even at the max volume. However, there are headphones jack and an audio line-in port available as gamers usually prefer to use headphones or a high-quality speakers set system.
There aren’t any USB ports that could be used for easier connecting your keyboard, mouse or gaming console devices.
Although the monitor has an only 60Hz refresh rate, it is possible to overclock it to 75Hz but only with certain lower resolutions. This is a huge drawback especially considering that today’s gaming monitors have up to 144Hz. However, considering the monitor’s price you still get more than a decent gaming monitor for the money you paid for, as the brilliant picture quality and exclusive features make up for the low Hz rate.
As soon as we hooked up the monitor, it was in the Fighting Mode. While this mode shows perfect colors in games, they appear weaker if you’re not in a game. So, if you wish to watch a movie or simply surf the web as soon as you unpack the monitor, be sure to choose the standard mode in the OSD menu.
The BenQ RL2460HT like most of the other gaming monitors has a TN panel. While this means that the colors aren’t as rich and accurate as of an IPS panel, it offers a rapid response time of only 1ms which is unavailable in IPS monitors, at least for now. Some users may experience a contrasting of colors when the screen is viewed from a different angle, however, thanks to the wide range of ergonomic features you will be able to tweak your monitor for comfortable watching of movies while lying on a bed. The viewing angles are 160° vertical and 170° horizontal.
Who is this product for?
Gamers who wish to compete in RTS and FPS games will be entirely satisfied with the BenQ RL2460HT for a reasonable price. With its many games utilizing features gamers will have the edge over their opponents and enjoy in the beautiful and crisp image quality. Due to having only 60Hz rate, this monitor is more intended for aspiring and professional RTS players rather than elite FPS players who need 144Hz gaming monitors. Professional designers and photographers would suffer from the lack of color depth and accuracy. Therefore, they should look for a monitor with an IPS panel. We hope our BenQ RL2460HT review was helpful for you in deciding whether or not this excellent gaming monitor is something for you.
