The Asus VE248H monitor is the perfect fit for your modern computer user, as it’s capable of integrating ideal sound quality and optimal imagery together into one bundle. It’s 24” big and has a refresh rate 2 ms, offering a full HS picture (using HDMI connectivity). When I got this monitor at first, I wanted to really push the image quality to its limits. I ran the monitor through a graphical test and such using video games, and the result was stellar.
The specifications of a monitor I could plan on potentially purchasing are a big deal, as I never want my hard-earned money to go to waste. Throughout my years of PC gaming, I’ve gone through tons of gaming monitors, and all of them have offered up different specs; it’s the diversity that makes monitor shopping so fun (and also so difficult). Some of the main specs of this monitor would be:
- Screen Size: 24”
- Resolution: 1920 x 1080
- Pixel Pitch: 0.2768mm
- Display Colors: 16.7 Million
- Brightness: 250 cd/m²
- Response Time: 2ms (GTG)
- Aspect Ratio: 16:9
- 2 x 1W Built-In Stereo RMS Speakers
- Panel Type: TN
Right off the jump, I noticed that the size was something I could learn to live with. It isn’t the largest monitor, but it isn’t the smallest either; I would say it’s somewhere in between (like the perfect blend). Not only was it a monitor that had my video games looking great, but any movie or media that I was watching on my computer looked great as well. It connects using an HDMI port, so it could even be used for television as well – the options are seemingly endless.
There are two speakers built-in, which is a nice touch when you consider that fact that a lot of monitors avoid that feature. It’s full HD with HDMI and features tons of user controls. It’s a very diverse product that could find itself being used in an abundance of homes, which is why I was so intrigued to see what I could get out of this particular model.
What Makes a Great Monitor?
In my opinion, the monitor that you want to go with should meet a checklist of sorts. It might seem a bit extensive, but it’s something I’ve always done myself (and will continue to do) when buying a product. I want to identify whether the monitor is sizeable, made with high-quality materials and produces the perfect picture. To find the best monitor, I feel like I have to look out for a few specific features/hardware implementations. The ones that I look out for personally would be:
Size – I want the monitor to be decently sized, as a smaller monitor won’t allow you to enjoy the image quality to the fullest extent. The bigger the monitor, the better; but in some cases, going too big could cause the picture to become a bit blurry.
Resolution – The higher the resolution, the better. This means that the image quality is going to have more pixels to work with, creating a higher image quality in general; it also has a positive effect on the colors and such (but not as much as the panel type).
Panel Type – The panel type used in the monitor determines many different things in regards to the image, and there are only a few main different types of them to consider
Features – What kind of extra features am I going to be benefitting from? If the monitor doesn’t offer up an extensive set of features, is the compact list worth the price you’re paying?
FeaturesThis product has many useful features to consider. While I’ve already talked about the image quality and such, the features are what make most monitors tick. This monitor is no exception, and Asus made sure to implement as many useful features as possible. The most notable features are things like Kensington Lock and Trace Free Technology, but they also made use of greener materials for the manufacturing portion. Asus is looking to make progress in regards to their eco-friendly manufacturing processes, which I’m completely down with – so that was a plus in my book.
HDCP support is present within this monitor, although there isn’t a built-in TV tuner (I didn’t need that anyways!). It offers a bright and clean image, and the colors are perfect; it’s also very lightweight, which can be a very important part of your monitor needs. It’s sturdy and comes equipped with speakers as well, so there’s no need to worry about grabbing external audio equipment – I did take it upon myself to do that, though. I’m an audio freak of sorts, so it was a must! In the end, people rarely buy monitors for the speakers alone.
My Final Verdict
I loved this monitor quite a bit, but I wish I could have adjusted the height. Other than that, I have nothing but great things to say about the Asus VE248H 24” monitor. I would recommend this monitor to anybody who is currently shopping for a new one, and even those who are comfortable with their current set-up. It doesn’t hurt to shake things up a bit, and this is the perfect monitor to work with. Regardless of whether I’m gaming, or getting work done, this monitor is fantastic – it’s an optimal monitor for all sorts of things. Even if you wanted to just watch TV on it, that can be done. Yes, this can be used as a gaming TV as well.
For the reasons I’ve stated above, I’m probably going to stick with this monitor for a few months. It’s a great quality monitor, and well-worth the money that I spent to get it. Asus is a brand that I’m beginning to fall in love with, and this product only makes the bond that much stronger!
