ASUS teamed up with the Bang & Olufsen ICEpower in order to create the perfect listening experience along with the viewing one. The 32mm in diameter speakers with built-in amplifier deliver sound like no other monitors do. Although they don’t surpass a standard set of speakers, for a secondary accessory they’re quite satisfactory. Additionally, the speakers don’t expand the power consumption as they usually do. The average power consumption is 33W and 0.5W in the standby mode.
The ASUS MX239H exclusive QuickFit feature allows you to place virtual grids on your screen. What do users not like about this product?
- Touch-sensitive OSD Buttons
- Lack of ergonomics
- IPS Glow
This monitor can be tilted by 25 degrees, but other than that it lacks other ergonomic features such as height adjustment or the ability to be pivoted into a portrait position. The latter especially affects professional photographers who may need to view certain photos in the portrait version. Additionally, the ASUS MX239H IPS monitor is not VESA mount compatible, meaning that if you wish to place it on the wall, you will need to buy a fitting adapter.
In general, the IPS panel monitors are known for their issue of minor light bleeding at the edges of the screen. This is due to the amount of light that is allowed to pass through the panel, as it can turn into the glow. Since this isn’t a manufacturing defect but rather an unavoidable part of the technology it cannot be regarded as a drawback. Besides, the IPS glow is only noticeable in completely dark backgrounds while sitting in a dark room. In video games and movie you won’t be able to notice any undesired glowing.
In contrast to the TN panels, minor IPS panel glow is a tolerable toll to pay as in return you get excellent viewing angles which are a major issue in TN panels. With IPS monitors’ viewing angles you won’t experience any colors contrasting or losing their tint when you look at the screen from different angles and distance. Moreover, IPS panels offer more accurate colors which are needed by the professional designers while the TN panels have a quicker response time which is mandatory for competitive gamers.
