The Acer XB240H Monitor is a 24-inch full-screen monitor, that features full HD and NVIDIA G-SYNC (for optimal performance while playing video games and such). The resolution is 1920 x 1080, which calls for some stellar image quality! This great gaming monitor is also known by the names Acer Predator XB240H, Acer Predator XB240H Abpr and Acer XB240H Abpr.
When it comes to monitors, I never want to leave any stone unturned. I’m going to search high and low for the best possible option, because as a graphic designer, I find it quite important to have optimal image quality. I’ve had tons of first-hand experience with many monitors on the market, and this one seemed to be worth the words that a review would require – Acer has managed to put a good product together this time around, and I’m going to talk about what I liked (and didn’t like) in this piece. The specifications are as follows:
- Weight: 14.3 lbs
- Dimensions: 22.3 x 9.7 x 15.2
- Color: Black
- Screen Size: 24 Inches
- Resolution: 1920 x 1080 pixels
- Refresh Rate: 144Hz
- Adaptive-Sync: G-SYNC
When I first got my hands on this monitor, I knew that it was going to perform well. Acer has been producing high-quality computer products for quite some time now, and they haven’t let me down in the past – with that being said, I enter every purchase with a fresh palate. The screen resolution was up to par immediately, which was a good sign.
What Makes a Good Monitor?
A good monitor is only going to perform as well as the hardware/materials used within the manufacturing process allows it to be. When you buy a cheap monitor, it’s going to perform poorly; but there are affordable gems out there that can do a fantastic job. The abundance of variables alone can make it tough to identify the right choice, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Just keep an eye out for things like:
- Screen Size
- Type of Panel
- Refresh Rate
- Response Times
- Speakers + Accessories
- Any Other Features Included!
There are a lot of variables that go into researching monitors, which can make it tough for newcomers, Although that is the case, looking at reviews (much like this one) can give you a better idea as to what a particular product has to offer. Since I’ve been using this monitor on a personal level for quite some time now, you can trust what I’ve got to say. Let’s dive right into it, shall we?
The quality of display that the Acer XB240H Monitor sports is immaculate. This is an Acer XB240H review that is delving deep into the intricacies of display types, which is a “TN” in this case. TN panels are at the bottom of the panel rankings (it goes: OLED, IPS, VA and TN), which results in poor color quality (compared to the others). The panel keeps monitors affordable in many cases, which is why it’s the most common panel type I found myself using. The monitor supports a refresh rate of 1ms, which is aided by the NVIDIA G-SYNC system they’ve implemented. It allows for the monitor to produce quality graphics, while avoiding all the ghosting that occurs on fast-paced gameplay.
Featuresgaming monitor, making it much more than just a simple piece of equipment. The flicker-less monitor allows gamers and students alike to avoid an uncomfortable viewing experience, which is useful for long hours of gaming (or studying). There’s an ErgoStand implemented within the monitor that allows the display to be adjusted in height, as well as tilt up or down; this is to create the most optimal viewing angles possible. The VESA compatible mounting options allowed me to save on space, and even tighten up my resource budget.
With a 1ms refresh rate using the GTG (Gray to Gray) process, I would never experience choppiness with the image. If you wanted minimal distractions to worry about while gaming/using the computer in general, this monitor is definitely going to bring you a step closer to perfection. The monitor is 3D ready as well, all you need to do is purchase the NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Wireless Glass Kit and the NVIDIA 3D LIGHTBOOST technology. 3D gaming/entertainment will be absolutely seamless – I didn’t do this personally, but it’s all about personal preference. There’s one display port present, and the monitor is incredibly easy to set-up. I’m not a tech guru by any means, and I needed no assistance whatsoever. A quick run-down of the features would look something like this:
- Ready for 3D use (with permitted technology in place)
- 1ms Refresh Rate
- TN Panel
- NVIDIA G-SYNC Technology
- 24-Inch Display
- 1920 x 1080 pixels
All in all, this is a monitor that won’t let you down. Acer knew what they were doing when this product was being put together for the first time, and I’m glad that I was able to experience it first-hand. Since I’m always on my computer, I knew it was a big deal to have the right monitor – without it, I realized that the 6 or 7 hours I spent at my computer every single day could be damaging. If I wasn’t comfortable, it just didn’t feel right; but the search for a new monitor led me to the Acer XB240H.
It’s not the largest monitor that money can buy, but that wasn’t what I was looking for. I wanted something high-quality, yet modest; and that’s what I got. The size is reasonable, and the ErgoStand helped me find the perfect angle (especially if I was changing my chair height). The implementation of NVIDIA G-SYNC technology is quite noticeable, as the image is smooth and high in quality. The color could use a bit of work, but that’s expected with a TN panel.
It’s a decently sized monitor that’s suitable for all ages and walks of life, regardless of your technological knowledge. It’s an easy installation process to follow, and all of the features implemented are ideal for both the hardcore gamer and the average person.
