Personally, I never want to deal with a lackluster monitor. They not only provide you with terrible image quality, but it just makes the entertainment experience a daunting one. When you aren’t happy with the quality of your monitor’s image, it only makes sense to purchase a brand new one. That’s where I felt like I was at, and I needed to get something new into my life – that’s where I found myself looking at the Acer G246HL. This Acer G246HL review is going to cover a lot, so strap down and get ready to read!

This specific monitor is 24 inches wide, and offers up Full HD playback (at a 1920 x 1080 resolution). The 5ms rapid response time is a nice touch, and allows you to reduce the amount of deviations being seen. If you want the most immersive graphical experience possible for both your games and movies, this is an almost obvious option to be considered. The DVI-D input is equipped with “high-bandwidth DCP (Digital Content Protection) – also known as HDCP. This allows you to look at digital movies with ease, as well as copy-protected media. The specs look a little something like this:

  • Weight: 4.8 kg
  • Series: G6 Series
  • Screen Size: 24”
  • LED Backlight: Yes
  • Widescreen: Yes
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
  • Display Colors: 16.7 Million
  • Response Time: 5ms
  • Panel Type: TN

Why This One?

Acer is already a reputable brand, so I didn’t feel there were any problems with purchasing a monitor from there. It’s very slim in the profile that it sports, and doesn’t come off as being bulky in any sense of the word. The resolution was fantastic and kept all of my image quality stellar, and I didn’t really have any issues with the color as well – the 100 million to 1 contrast ratio keeps the image sharp as well.  As far as an Acer G246HL review can go, this one should go quite in-depth.

Display Quality?

The quality of display is the most important aspect of any monitor, as you’ll be using it for watching stuff. The panel type featured here is of the TN variety, which is quite common – the only issue you can find with this particular panel is the fact that the color isn’t as good (when compared to other panel types). With a TN panel, you’ll be in great hands for gaming; the only problem here is that color shifts happen at widened viewing angles, making it appear a little different looking.

TN stands for “Twisted Nematic”, and while it’s the most common panel type around right now, it’s also the oldest you could buy. All in all, the display quality is stellar and I was happy with it.

Connectivity

The connectivity portion of this monitor features DVI, as well as D-Sub (1 for each). The input video compatibility is digital and analog RGB, but it’s important to note that this monitor doesn’t offer up HDMI support. I thought that was weird, as I’ve been using an HDMI cord for most of my monitor needs over the past few years. There’s no DisplayPort present as well, which might mean something to others – I didn’t care too much about that, personally.

Features

This monitor is packed with features, which is something you want to see in the choice you end up going with. You want tons of features, but you want them to apply towards your life – if they seem impractical, it may not be the right monitor for you. This monitor features a super-slim design and an X-shaped stand that allows it to fit in pretty much any space possible. They use eco-friendly material throughout the manufacturing process, and ensured that the monitor uses as little energy as possible; you can make use of all of these features, without having to completely break your budget.

With a total of 24 inches to work with, this monitor delivers stunning detail. The DVI-D input and HDCP allows you to watch whatever you’d like, never limiting your media options. The image quality is amazing with 100 million:1 contrast ratio, delivering a rich and colorful experience.

The response time is 5ms, which is incredibly quick and allows you to minimize ghosting; the Acer eColor Management process allowed me to customize my image performance options during specific scenarios as well! It’s both efficient and affordable, which are two things I love to see in a monitor. If you can purchase the perfect product without breaking the bank, you’re set! The Acer G246HLAbd is a reliable option for pretty much everybody looking for a monitor at this point in time. I originally purchased it because my old monitor broke, but I think I’ve found my monitor solution for the long run.

Conclusion

At the end of it all, I really do appreciate this monitor. It’s a smart choice for anybody who wants a quality option, but doesn’t want to spend copious amounts of money on excessive features and such. It’s a practical choice for not only the serious gamer, but the occasional movie-watcher as well. I wouldn’t personally recommend it unless I was satisfied with the results, and I’m not the type of person to just throw money away!

The Acer G246HLAbd delivers optimal image quality and awesome colors, without lagging behind and creating “ghosts”. It’s one of the most optimal entertainment experiences you could ever go with, and that’s coming from someone who has used the monitor on a personal level.

Was It Worth It?

I’d have to say yes, because I’ve used plenty of monitors in the past that were lackluster in comparison, yet cost the same amount of money (or in some cases, more) than the Acer G246HL. If you don’t want to break your bank, but still want to go with a high-quality monitor option, this is one of the products you should keep on your radar.
