ViewSonic VX2758-C-MH

Introduction

ViewSonic has recently announced two additions to their VX Entertainment line of displays. The ViewSonic VX2758 and the ViewSonic VX3258 are curved gaming monitors with 144Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync technology, and high-contrast VA panels.

The ViewSonic VX2758 is the smaller model with a 27-inch screen size and Full HD resolution while the VX3258 features a larger 32-inch screen as well as higher WQHD resolution with 2560×1440 pixels.

Image Quality and Features

Both monitors are based on VA panels with 280-nit peak brightness, superb 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 178-degree viewing angles, 5ms response time speed, and 8-bit color support.

In comparison to the other panels found on LED monitors, such as the IPS and TN, the VA panels provide the best static contrast ratio which results in significantly deeper black tones. Furthermore, these VA panels don’t suffer from the IPS glow and have less noticeable backlight bleeding.

Alas, when it comes to perceived motion blur, the VA panels are outperformed by the rest as ghosting is prominent in fast-paced scenes; more so where dark pixels are dominant in the picture. Therefore, we don’t recommend VA panels for competitive FPS gaming even though the ViewSonic VX2758 and VX3258 offer the rapid 144Hz refresh rate.

If you prefer better graphics than sheer pixel transition performance and single player rather than PvP FPS games, these gaming monitors will still be great for you as they’d provide you with an outstanding image quality as well as responsive gameplay.

AMD FreeSync is supported by both displays. This technology allows you to match the monitor’s refresh rate with your FreeSync-compatible GPU’s frame rate and thus eliminate screen tearing and stuttering without affecting the input lag.

Note that you can use the ViewSonic VX2758 and VX3258 144Hz monitors with Nvidia graphics cards without issues as well, but you won’t be able to activate the dynamic refresh rate.

Lastly, the new ViewSonic VX monitors come with the exclusive ViewMode feature which consists of pre-calibrated picture presets for Game, Movie, Web, Text, and Mono viewing activities.

Design and Connectivity

The ViewSonic VX3258 and the ViewSonic VX2758 offer 1800R curvature which makes for a more immersive and cinematic viewing experience. Moreover, the screen surface is covered by a matte 3H coating that eliminates sunlight reflections. Unfortunately, the monitors are tilt-only and have no VESA mount.

As far as connectivity is concerned, there are two HDMI ports (1.4 and 2.0) as well as a VGA port. The ViewSonic VX3258 and the VX2758 FreeSync range is 48-144Hz over both HDMI ports. There are two audio ports as well, one for the headphones and one for the 2x2W integrated speakers.

Price & Availability

The ViewSonic VX2758-C-MH price will be ~$280 once it’s released in February. Acer already offers a similar gaming monitor with pretty much identical specifications, so if you’re interested in the VX2758 you may want to check out the Acer ED273A.

The estimated street price of the ViewSonic VX3258-2KC-MHD is $409 which is definitely alluring considering that there aren’t many 32-inch 1440p 144Hz gaming monitors available. It should be available for purchase in March 2018 when we hope to get our hands on it and review it.
