BenQ has added a new display to their low-budget series. The BenQ GL2580HM offers Full HD resolution and ultra thin bezel design which will go well with in any office or home for casual multimedia use.
BenQ’s Eye-Care technology ensures a flicker-free screen along with the low blue light filter so that you can work or play for hours without straining your eyes.
The BenQ GL2580HM features a TN panel which in comparison to the IPS offers a faster response time speed. With 2ms response time gray to gray pixel transition, you won’t encounter any ghosting of the fast moving objects in movies or fast-paced video games.
However, the image quality will have a less vibrant image quality as the color reproduction is poorer. Additionally, the viewing angles of 170 horizontal degrees and 160 vertical will cause colors to shift when viewed from certain angles.
Naturally, this would be acceptable as the TN panel monitors are usually more affordable than the IPS which sadly isn’t the case with the BenQ GL2580HM display.
The BenQ GL2580HM is aimed at those who aren’t too picky about the colors but rather go after convenient features. Therefore, the display offers four different levels of the low blue light feature (Multimedia, Web Surfing, Office, and Reading).
This feature applies a cooler color temperature which is easy on the eyes even late in the evening when certain people can experience eye discomfort from watching the screen.
Design and Connectivity
Furthermore, the BenQ GL2580HM 1080p monitor features a hidden cable management which allows you to conceal all the cables and keep your desk always tidy.
The display is covered with a premium textured finish while the screen is coated with an anti-glare coating.
There are 100 x 100mm holes for the VESA mount as well, but the monitor is tilt-only by -5, 20 degrees. Connectivity consists of a VGA, a DVI-D, an HDMI 1.4, and two 1W built-in speakers.
Price & Similar Monitors
At the moment (September 2017), the BenQ GL2580HM price amounts to around $180 though it’s currently only available in Europe.
Although the ultra slim design and the eye-care features make it an adequate display for any office, the price simply isn’t worth it as there are better IPS monitors at cheaper prices. Gamers, on the other hand, can get an even faster 1ms response time gaming monitor for less money as well.
