AOC has announced the new AOC Q3279VWF with the goal to bring 1440p to everybody due to its affordable price. The 31.5-inch monitor will be available sometime in November 2017 with MSRP of only $260 which is a surprisingly good deal for a high-contrast VA panel display with WQHD screen resolution.
Since it supports AMD FreeSync technology and offers a quick 5ms response time, it’s also a great choice for an affordable 1440p gaming monitor.
The AOC Q3279VWF is based on an MVA panel which delivers a superior 3,000:1 static contrast ratio for an immersive image quality with vivid, true black colors. Moreover, the panel ensures 178-degree viewing angles both horizontally and vertically allowing you to enjoy the flawless picture from basically any angle.
Full HD 1920×1080 resolution has been the standard for quite some time, and it seems AOC is determined to finally change this with this affordable 1440p monitor. Nowadays, you can find many affordable 27-inch monitors with 1080p resolution, but these offer a rather pixelated image quality due to the mediocre pixel density.
With the AOC Q3279VWF 1440p monitor, you’ll get a similar pixel density (93.24 PPI – Pixels Per Inch) to a 24-inch 1080p monitor (91.79 PPI), in addition to a much larger screen and an overall better image quality.
The AOC Q3279VWF VA panel supports 10-bit color through dithering (8-bit + FRC) allowing you to enjoy 1.07 billion colors covering 88% of the NTSC color space which is over 100% sRGB.
With 5ms (GtG) response time speed, casual gamers will be able to enjoy fast-paced gaming without obtrusive ghosting and motion blur. Furthermore, those with AMD FreeSync-compatible GPUs can use the full potential of this display and enjoy the gameplay without screen tearing and stuttering.
The AOC Q3279VWF display offers native 60Hz refresh rate, but when paired with a fitting AMD graphics card, the dynamic refresh rate extends to 48-75Hz via both HDMI and DisplayPort connectors.
Design and Connectivity
The sleek design offers -2°, 21.5° tilt and 90° pivot adjustments, but the monitor isn’t VESA mount compatible. Furthermore, there are no extra USB ports nor built-in speakers which is entirely acceptable given the monitor’s specs and price. Connector ports are as follows: a DisplayPort 1.2, an HDMI 1.4, a VGA, a DVI, and the headphones jack.
Price & Similar Monitors
The AOC Q3279VWF price should be around $260 once it’s released sometime in November this year. The only comparable display to this one is the Lenovo L27Q with an IPS panel and similar price tag. Most of the other 1440p monitors aren’t below $350.
If you’ve been looking for an affordable monitor to upgrade your old 1080p display, the AOC Q3279VWF could be the one. The 2560×1440 resolution provides you with a lot more convenience and perks in comparison to the standard 1920×1080.
Whether you want a brand new monitor for your living room and general multimedia enjoyment or you wish to take your gaming to a new level, the AOC Q3279VWF is definitely an appealing choice though we’ll know for sure after we review it soon enough.
