The new Acer Predator XB241YU is simply amazing. This is a new gaming monitor addition to Acer’s Predator gaming hardware lineup and it caters to a lot of gamers. We’ll now shortly review this gaming monitor from Acer and see what it has to offer.
The 24-inch screen size is attractive to many gamers, who do not prefer a larger 27-inch display, probably due to the amount of extra desk real estate it takes. The new Acer Predator XB241YU comes packed with a beefy 1440p WQHD resolution out of the box, ready to connect to your gaming PC. Aesthetically, it looks like the other gaming monitor products in the Predator lineup, such as the wide V-shaped stand, but there’s a clear difference in the middle of the stand.
Furthermore, the Acer Predator XB241YU features an amazing 144Hz refresh rate and supports NVIDIA G-SYNC technology. With the G-SYNC feature enabled, the refresh rate can get as high as 165Hz! So if you have a G-SYNC compatible GPU and connect it to this gaming monitor, you will be able to achieve a 165Hz refresh rate. ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur) is also supported, if you prefer to have zero motion blur when playing games, making objects appear perfectly sharp without ghosting or smearing effects.
Looking at the other specifications of the 23.8-inch Acer Predator XB241YU, we can see that it features a TN panel (Twisted Nematic). This results in a higher response time, 1 millisecond in this case, but suffers from bad viewing angles and worse color quality than IPS and VA panels. TN panels are very good for fast-paced games, such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) and Battlefield 1. For other purposes, IPS and VA panels are favorable.
Other mentionable features include a fully ergonomic stand with tilt, pivot, swivel and height adjustment options available. The monitor is also VESA mount compatible and supports 100% of the sRGB color spectrum and also features a 6-axis color adjustment setting.
Furthermore, there are two integrated 2W speakers in this monitor, although you should probably get some dedicated PC speakers if you want the best audio your PC can produce. Connection options include a HDMI port, four USB 3.0 ports and a DisplayPort, which is required to utilize the NVIDIA G-SYNC technology. The USB 3.0 ports mean that you can easily connect your favorite devices to the monitor, such as your gaming mouse, gaming keyboard and even connect your smartphone or other portable devices to the monitor for easy charging.
