HP has just unveiled a 32-inch WQHD monitor in a press release. The monitor in question is the HP Envy 32, which as the name suggests is a part of the Envy series and is 32-inches in the diagonal. The display is targeted at both multimedia users and gamers, and if you think you belong in both these user groups, then this monitor might be of high interest to you.
Note: There is already an existing HP Envy 32 monitor that has been out for a year now, but that display does not have AMD FreeSync support! Please note the release date on your favorite retailer, as it will be available on October 18 on select retailers and on November 24 on a wide range of other retailers. The previous HP Envy 32 was released on September 2014.
The HP Envy 32 supports AMD FreeSync, a technology that eliminates screen tearing and doesn’t suffer from increased input lag, as you would normally do with V-Sync. The feature does not require any additional hardware, which is the case with G-SYNC, and therefore doesn’t add any additional cost. The technology dynamically changes the refresh rate of your monitor to match the output FPS of your graphics card, and thus effectively eliminating screen tearing artifacts. With the feature enabled, you can enjoy a smoother and fluid gameplay, which you can hardly live without once you have tried it. As of this date, the FreeSync range of this monitor has not yet been revealed.
Panel type appears to be WVA with Anti-Glare, which is a VA panel type.
HP has also released a product video/commercial for this monitor, which you can see below.
As far as the panel goes, it boasts a stunning 1440p resolution with 100 percent support of the sRGB color gamut. Combine this with the FreeSync support and you have a display for the multimedia/gaming user, but mostly for multimedia tasks such as photo editing and other graphics design work. The 60Hz refresh rate means that the FreeSync range will be low anyways and you won’t enjoy the full benefit of a fluid and responsive gameplay as you would with a FreeSync/G-SYNC 144Hz gaming monitor.
This display adopts a wide variety of connection options, such as HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort and MHL. USB ports and audio jacks can also be found on the back of the monitor. What you will notice right away is the wide side bezel, which are the speakers. Two 6-Watt speakers tuned by Bang & Olufsen will deliver a stunning audio experience. This monitor even comes with a remote, which is something that we haven’t seen before in any monitor. Furthermore, the stand is equipped with a VESA mounting bracket for showcasing on a wall or a swivel arm.
With the super sleek design and ultra-thin profile, this screen will fit well in any home and add a modern and elegant vibe to it. The new HP Envy 32 will cost $499.99 and will be available on October 18 in some stores and on November 2014 on a wide range of others. We’ll review this monitor if the demand is sufficient. And again, please note the older HP Envy 32, which is without FreeSync support. Check the release date on the product page of your favorite retailer and see if it is October 18, 2015 or after.
